Official Announcement: Temporary Closure of Karang Boma Dance & Gamelan Performances for Nyepi 2025

Important Notice for Travel Agents & Tour Guides
The Sanggar Tari dan Tabuh Karang Boma Desa Adat Pecatu officially announces a temporary closure of all traditional dance and gamelan performances in observance of Nyepi 2025.
Nyepi, or the Balinese Day of Silence, is a sacred Hindu holiday that is observed with absolute silence, meditation, and reflection across the entire island of Bali. As part of this holy tradition, our dance and music performances will be on holiday (libur) for two days as follows:
Closure Dates:
- Friday, March 28, 2025 – Pengerupukan Day (Nyepi Eve)
- Saturday, March 29, 2025 – Nyepi Day (Total Silence Day)
Reopening Date:
- Sunday, March 30, 2025 – Manis Nyepi (Operations resume as normal)
During these two days, there will be no performances, rehearsals, or any cultural activities held at our venue. This is in alignment with the sacred customs of Nyepi, where the entire island of Bali comes to a complete standstill to honor spiritual purification and balance.
Understanding Nyepi & Its Importance
Nyepi is not just a regular holiday, but a day of profound spiritual significance for the Balinese people. It marks the Hindu New Year (Saka Year 1947) and is a time for self-reflection, renewal, and cleansing of negative energies.
Pengerupukan (March 28, 2025)
Pengerupukan is the day before Nyepi, filled with rituals aimed at purging the island of negative forces. One of the most famous traditions on this day is the Ogoh-Ogoh Parade, where large, elaborate demon-like statues are paraded through the streets and then burned as a symbolic act of removing bad energy.
On this day, performances will end early, and all activities at Karang Boma must conclude before 2:00 PM. Visitors are advised to complete their tours and preparations before this time as traffic congestion and road restrictions are expected.
Nyepi (March 29, 2025) – The Day of Complete Silence
Nyepi is a day of total silence observed throughout Bali. During this 24-hour period:
- No travel is allowed (including flights, public transport, and private vehicles).
- No entertainment or noise—music, television, and loud conversations should be avoided.
- No lights at night—all homes and businesses must remain dark.
- No work or outdoor activities—all Balinese stay indoors to meditate and reflect.
Since this is a mandatory observance, all tourist activities, including visits to cultural sites and temples, will be completely halted.
Manis Nyepi (March 30, 2025) – The Reawakening
The day after Nyepi, known as Manis Nyepi, is a time of reconciliation and renewal. This is when daily life resumes, and people reconnect with their loved ones in a peaceful and refreshed state. Karang Boma Dance & Gamelan Performances will resume as normal on this day.
